israel from the gaza strip. joining me now is the former u.s. director of national intelligence, john ratcliffe. director, great to see you this morning. thanks very much for being here. >> you bet, maria with. maria: what is the cig enough januaries of israel's -- significance of israel's success in these last two weeks of taking down this leader, longtime leader of hezbollah? >> yeah, in taking down hassan nasrallah, israel has effectively not just degraded hezbollah's operational capabilities, but really decimated it. by taking out the entire hezbollah leadership, literally the top dozen or so hezbollah commanders, when you add to that, maria, what israel has been successful in doing in taking out the hamas leadership, taking out hania in iran a few weeks ago, it's a blow not only to those organizations, those terror organizations like hezbollah and hamas, but a blow to their puppetmaster, iran.

what iran is trying to do build a ring of terror, ring of fire around israel, and in just the last six weeks through these incredible intelligence and military successes, israel has effectively blown that ring of fire apart. and, you know, in doing so, maria, israel hasn't just helped etc. own national security posture -- its own national security posture, it's helped the u.s. which begs the question, why is the u.s. not doing more? maria: it's a good question because when you look at what the other terrorists have done, the houthis attacking our warships, two dozen ballistic missiles, i mean, what should be the response from the united states? and i also throw in this question, the effectiveness of the fact that israel has not even shared some of this information with the u.s. like the, you know, the explosion of the pagers and the devices. >> well, you know, unfortunately the biden-harris administration

is taking the same foreign policy strategic approach that they have so often which is to do the exact wrong thing at the exact wrong time. so at this moment, their calling for a ceasefire -- they're calling for a ceasefire, for a diplomat if diplomatic solution which would allow hamas and hezbollah and iran to rebuild and rearm. and it has been a failed strategy. but in this case, maria, i don't think this is just incompetence, i think this is all about political experiod if yen city. -- expediency. it's no secret that the democrats want to obtain a ceasefire in advance of the presidential election coming up to help kamala harris, and in so doing they're really willing to put, you know, politics above our national security. and it is troubling, maria, because how far are they willing to go? as you point out, they're willing to ignore acts of war. i mean, when our own

intelligence community tells us that they're hacking into the trump campaign to help kamala harris win the election, when they engage in an act of war trying to assassination -- assassinate president trump and, perhaps most importantly, when they engage in the act of war of firing through its houthi-controlled rebels ballistic missiles at three u.s. warships and there have been no actions and no consequences to those acts of war by iran, it unfortunately tells you how far the democrats willing to go to stop donald trump. and, you know, i think larger at play here, maria, the is not just the short-term election, but it really reveals the failed strategy of the democrats over the last ten years in dealing with iran. you know, the famous obama doctrine which was that, look, we can deter iran diplomatically and it won't come at the expense of israel. well, barack obama was wrong. he misunderstood the lethality

the fbi, but also by members of congress who are read into these kinds of things. they can't, obviously, give me certain details, but they're, like, you guys better take it really seriously. this is kind of getting old. i'veed had a lot of time in the last few months where i've had to explain to my if young children why radicalized democrats are trying to kill their grandfather. then you have this and you have the hacking where iran, the world's leading state sponsor of terror, is literally colluding -- [laughter] with the biden-harris administration if to try to give them information against their political enemies. think about that. i mean, i can't tell if it's terrible or if it's perhaps the greatest endorsement of my father's campaign. iran does not want him to be president. russia does not want him to be president. our enemies do not want my father to be president because they understand that bringing back strength and resolve to america is really badr for their global ambitions -- bad for their global ambitions. i can't think of a better endorse. , maria. maria: let me switch gears to

the upcoming vice presidential debate this tuesday night. it has been said you were among those encouraging your father to choose j.d. vance as his running mate. he did, now he goes head to head against tim walz on tuesday night. what are you expecting? >> j.d. has been incredible. every time i watch him whether it's the sunday morning shows, you know, just dismantling the left on their home turf, i just feel totally vindicated in that decision. he's been absolutely outstanding. j. j.d. is a guy of substance, he's a guy who lived that american dream coming out of appalachia to become now the vice presidential candidate for the republican party in the united states. but beyond that, building businesses and everything along the way. i think he's been incredible. tim walz the exact opposite of that. he's someone that lied about his military career, he lices about each and every thing. he makes every mistake in the group. he's the guy that was able to put tampons in boys' bathrooms in schools and the guy that

leapt the main city of the state he's supposedly the governor of burn to the ground without any confidence. i mean, you couldn't really pick a more, you know, a greater dichotomy of individual, and i think it's going to be a lot of fun to watch. maria: well, i mean, what do you think comes out of this? president trump is leading on all the important issues like the economy, like immigration although these polls are very tight. are you surprised by how tight these polls are in. >> i'm not surprised because i'm used to seeing this, whether it's the games in the polls -- i don't look at polls, maria. half of them are designed to artificially boost someone's ego, the other half to designed to demoralize you. the only poll that matters is on november 5th. i'd encourage everyone to start voting early. we also have to understand we're not in a fair fight. we see the entire weight and force of the mainstream media against us. you don't see the mainstream media complaining about kamala

harris letting in 16,000 rapists, 13,000 murderers as part of the millions of people they've let into this country unchecked. they know that. they understand -- they put out these statistics. 600,000 criminals. sure, come in, it doesn't matter. they're able to print those statistics which means they knew, and they allowed them in anyway. if you have a media that refuses to call that out, if you have a trillion dollar big tech apparatus that continues to function as the marketing department for the other side, you know, it doesn't surprise me that it's close. i think the american people get it. i think they understand. they go to the grows ifly stores and they feel that -- grocery stores and they feel that pain. kamala harris caused that. she's not the agent of change that the media's telling us. she's changed everything for the worse. she's been in charge for three and a half years. he copied the joe biden-kamala harris failed policies and put them on her web site. they didn't even delete the source code.

nothing is going to change. these fails policies of american weakness, america last are going to the continue, and i think the american people will finally understand that if they start paying attention and don't believe what they're being force fed through the media. n more and yet you've got -- maria: and yet you've got social media doing its best to change the narrative. president trump has vowed to prosecute google, for example, at maximum levels for election interference. give us your sense of whether or not we've seen a change in the unfairness on social media against president trump. >> well, i think you've seen is it, obviously, you have truth social now, you have, you know, what's going on at exert or, you know,. that's become a little bit more of a fair playing field, but most of the platforms are still a total disaster. google just manipulating the data, if you do a search on anything trump, it's all negative. sort of like the statistics you saw from ark bc news where 100% of the kamala harris coverage in the last three months has been

favorable, and everything on trump was 93% negative. people go online, they're looking for the story, and the first 40 articles they see is the cnn version of the truth. not what actually happens, but through their lens. you can find the truth if you have the time to scroll to page 8,376. most people don't. what's going on in big tech, in search engine space, with google the way they're manipulating what people are see, the information they're able to garner, the truth is out there somewhere on the internet, you'll just likely never find it if you don't have infinite if amount of time. maria: well, look, don, at the end of the day people just want a fair election in no. i want to get your inside perspective. do you believe that the gop expect if rnc has done enough -- and the rnc has done enough to protect fair elections coming up now five week away? i'm talking about the swing states of nevada, pennsylvania and the enhanced election integrity moves we've seen. are you comfortable with this? the do you feel that enough has

been done? >> listen, i think they're doing everything they can. the problem is, you know, these things are all left with the states. if you have a leftist/democrat state legislature, this is only so many things you're going to do. even in alabama this week i guess the doj is suing because they don't want to remove 4,000 people that they know are actually noncitizens that are on the voter rolls. i mean, that's the democrat party doing this. they don't want to take people who are known noncitizens, people who are legally not allowed to vote, they want to make sure we can't take them off the roster. that kind of stuff happens every day9. that's happening everywhere. the amount of lawfare that they're able to put into this, the millions and millions that are funded to it, i mean, you know, it's not just fund raising in campaigns where they can dwarf us because of soros or whoever it may be. i think we've done an incredible job doing what we can, but we're up against a lot of forces that are not looking to do the right thing, they're looking to try to literally give illegal aliens,

you know, a right to vote. they're looking to let them get away with it. it's not really a crime, you know, if you didn't know, so wink, wink, wink, show up and vote. maria: wow. >> they're doing this across the board. the amount of calls i've had from people -- ken paxton in texas, hey, they're giving them id cards, and they're registering them to vote and just hoping that no one has the time to catch it all. maria: right. >> they're playing whatever games they can imagine. they're flaunting it before the american people. it's absolutely disgusting, but we should be accustomed to that thousand from the democrat party because they are not the party of putting americans first. they've ostracized so many of their normal demographics that would have been reliable democrat voters. is rather than actually do what's good for those people and the rest of the american people, they have said, you know what? we're just going to replace you by bringing in 20 million if unknown, unvetted, some of whom who are murderers and rapists, and that's how they're going to handle the situation. maria: wow. >> honestly, it's laughable if it wasn't happening in america

gains and the impact it will have on the economy and on family-owned businesses. harris is also seeking to increase the corporate tax rate to 28% and the capital gains tax from 202% to the 28% also while allowing the trump tax cuts to expire after 202025. joining me with more on on the potential fallout is the chairman of the hows ways and means committee, congressman jason smith. mr. chairman, thank you so much for being here. i want to get your take on trump's economic policies versus kamala harris' economic policies, specifically regarding taxes. how do you think the impact plays out? from. >> well, just look at trump's economic policies. we passed the largest tax cut in history in 2017 with trump's tax cuts which led to the best economy in my lifetime. it had real wages increase of $5,000 which was more than the eight years combined of the obama administration. we saw record lows of poverty,

record unemployment for blacks and hispanics. it was a great economy. however, in vice president harris' 1300 days in her administration with where we've seen an inflation tax on all americans, increased by 20.3% since she took the oath of office. that means every viewer is paying more to just put food on their table, clothes on their backs and gasoline in their cars. those are the economic policies that a hearst administration's going to implement -- a harris administration's going to implement that led to the highest interest rates in more than two decades. individuals' credit card department is being maxed out. it's atrocious, maria. maria: well, i want to zero in on some of these items in her playbook, and that is this 25% tax on unrealized gains. people need to understand that this is not just for the rich. if you own a home and the value of your home goes up in any particular year, that's, quote-unquote, unrealized gains.

you're going to pay 25% tax on that. same with your 401(k). i mean, does she not understand the the broad impact that that could have? it's not just about rich people. >> cleary, she doesn't -- clearly, she doesn't understand the economic impact which would have on everyday working families. it is not just rich people that would be affected by these policies. that is what's so disturbing, so alarming. you talk about affecting economic growth in our nation. it's trying to put forward an unrealized tax on capital gains. this is atrocious and, unfortunately, the biden-harris administration has proposed it every year for the last four years in their budget. they are asking for the largest tax increase in the history of the nation. but what's even worse, maria, is they're wanting the individual rate on small businesses to be at 44%. that's almost 20 points higher than that of businesses in communist china. that's unacceptable. maria: well, the other thing is

core inflation remains pretty significant and up there. i mean, core inflation if has tick thed up to 2.7% -- tick thed up. that's stuck at the highest levels since may. if we get this dock workers strike next week, doesn't that spike if inflation further? >> let me tell you, the biden-hearst administration knows how to -- biden-harris administration knows how to increase inflation. when they took over from president trump, inflation was 1.4%. we've seen it rise 20. 3% since they took the oath of office. and why has it happened, maria? it's because vice president harris was the tie-breaking vote on the big economic policies like the american rescue plan, the inflation reduction act that led to the more than $10 trillion of new spending. that is why every american's paying more the put food on their table, clothes on their backs and gasoline in their cars. maria: and yet she blames corporations for price gouging. we'll keep watching that, for sure. congressman, good to see you. thank you, sir.

with me last weekend on the flow illegal migrants throughout europe as thousands of migrants and refugees are also crossing into poland mainly from the middle east attempting to cross the border between belarus, an ally of russia, and poland, a nato and e. u. member since 20221. it's rattling the hundreds of thousands of polish people in america including in the swing state of pennsylvania. i asked the president of poland, andrzej duda, about this while he was in new york for the u.n. general assembly. >> >> translator: in the summer of 202 2 211, the hybrid attack on our border started. 2021. so the belarusian regime which was not acknowledged by us, as a matter of fact, after the elections that was rigged, presidential elections and voters, so after that he started pushing migrants on the polish border. first of all, they were invited

by themselves. they organized for the migrants. just imagine in the majority of those, people are coming to belarus by planes. to a certain extent, those people were staying in russia, and many of them were able to see that during our procedures, many of them had in their passports and their smartphones some photos from their stay in moscow. they had russian stamps from the border checks. they had -- which they took if moscow first of all. so they were coming to belarus, and then belarusian authorities were literally pushing them in an illegal way to the border with poland. so that they would be pushed into the european if union to destabilize the situation. maria: i look across europe, you know, and i see germany tightening controls at all borders in immigration crackdowns. swede. wants to pay immigrants $34,000 to voluntarily leave.
